Important Tree Work Announcement

Our arborist at Northern Virginia Tree Experts in addition to our pruning and removal of a couple of dead trees gave us some trees that we need to take down due to various reasons. These are not yet dead, but in poor health.

We are applying to Reston Association to get the approval to do this. Two of the trees are close to Colts Neck Road in a wooded area adjacent to 2151 Colts Neck Court. There is a 23” poplar with multiple large stem cavities and a 15” maple with a large butt canker, rapid decline and a part dead crown.

On South Lakes Court there are 2 trees to come down in this round of work - a 15” white pine with a deep cavity at the butt and a 24” oak with root rot disease and an unbalanced crown. These two have red tags on them.

Also needed to come down in the next round are 3 large oaks (30”, 17” and 29”) with yellow tags on them. All have heavy root rot. These 5 are all on the side of 11850 South Lakes Court. Those beautiful bright orange mushrooms we have seen for several years which are getting bigger each fall are an indication of root rot.
