Congratulations! Please join us in congratulating Kathleen and Will Allen on the birth of their daughter Korie.
Thank you to all residents who assisted in shoveling out our main walks during the snow this year and helping your neighbors. Special thanks to Colin Barthel, who not only helped shovel on Colts Neck Court, but, as an “out of work government employee during the shutdown,” also helped shovel on South Lakes Court.
We’re back in season! Yard waste season, that is. As a reminder, yard waste is picked up on Wednesdays and can only be put out after dark on Tuesdays. It should be in trash cans marked yard waste that can be emptied, or leaves and brush should be in brown paper bags. Brush can be tied but must be in lengths no longer than 4 feet.
We’re all enjoying longer days… but let’s enjoy them without looking at our neighbors’ trash cans. Please remember that despite the longer sunlight hours, trash can only go out the morning of picking or after dark the night before. Also keep in mind 4 legged friends are out overnight so give them less time to look for snacks in the trash.
We have received a few questions regarding the collection or large trash items. If you find that you have oversized garbage for pickup, you must schedule this with American Disposal directly to schedule a pickup date. If there are any pickup charges, these must be paid in advance, and are the responsibility of the resident- not the cluster.
2020 Cluster Inspection: The Board has asked Reston Association to do an overall cluster inspection during the summer of 2020. This will bring our whole cluster into Reston Association compliance and will improve our properties greatly. We want everyone to have plenty of time to fix any issues. Please let the Board know if there are any questions and consider beginning getting your properties in order this spring! More news will be coming soon on what is expected once RA meets with the Board.
Fairgreen Cluster Blogspot: The Board is going to try to do a better job of keeping the Fairgreen Cluster Blog current. We plan to post the newsletter and other pertinent information here for easy reference. The best way to see what is posted here is to go to http://fairgreencluster.blogspot.com/ and sign up via the “follow by e-mail option.” This way, you’ll receive an email whenever the blog is posted. These update emails are usually sent in the evening.
Spring Cluster Clean-Up: Come socialize with your neighbors AND make the cluster beautiful on April 27 for spring cluster clean up. If you are not able to attend, please consider helping with the following projects:
· Pulling ivy off trees
· Cleaning up limbs and branches
· Pruning some bushes
· Clearing out leaves from the parking lot gutter pans
· Clearing debris around drains
· General cleanup of common areas.
We need YOUR help keeping Fairgreen Cluster one of the most beautiful in Reston!
Treasurer's report: All base dues for the first quarter are paid, and only one owner owes some late fees for the first quarter.
This year our federal income taxes more than doubled from the prior year - from $199.00 to $426.00. State income taxes increased from $85.00 last year to $129.00 this year. We have received better interest on our reserve accounts, which causes our taxes to increase. However, it is also is adding to the funds set aside for the parking lot repairs and other capital components. Because of the increase in the federal taxes, we are back to paying quarterly federal estimated taxes. The winter tree-work was $5384.00, and the spring work will be $650.00 for a total of $6,034.00. Snow removal for January and February totaled $850.00. We were lucky that so many winter days were just rain – thankfully this kept snow removal costs under budget.
