4th Quarter Fall Newsletter

Goodbye and best wishes to Sarah, Ty, Tyler, Hailey and Raven Rice who have moved to West Virginia.

Fall Cluster Cleanup will be October 5, 2019 beginning at 9:00 a.m. Everyone's help is needed. If you can't participate that date, please help when you can.

Treasurer's report: We’re on a roll! Can we do it again? For the second year in a row, all

dues were caught up by the end of July when payments were due. Last year was a first in a long time. It makes things far easier for year-end reports if everyone pays on time each quarter. The board is vigilant about the collection of dues and will begin collection procedures when dues are delinquent for more than one quarter.

Many people now use their bank's billpayer service to automatically pay their cluster dues. The billpayer service mails the checks to the cluster address – 11880 South Lakes Court. (Remember: if you’re dropping off a check you need to go to the home of the Treasurer - 11856 South Lakes Court.)

By the time you read this newsletter, the annual meeting will have passed. The board recommended that dues remain at $325 per quarter. If the membership decided on something different, we will let you know.

Annual Meeting: Speaking of the Annual Meeting, thank you to everyone who took the time to attend. We appreciate it!

2020 is going to be a busy year for the cluster. We anticipate having the parking lots repaved in late spring. This will be quite disruptive as residents will be out of the parking lot for several days. The parking lots are over 20 years old and are rapidly deteriorating. The good news is we have been vigilant in our budgeting of the reserves and have the funds on hand for this project. Some sidewalk repairs will also be made. We will keep you advised closer to the date but want to be clear that towing will be enforced during this project - everyone will have to be out by 7 a.m. when this project begins.

In the fall of 2020, we will also have the Reston Association inspection. This leaves everyone about a year to get their properties in top shape for this inspection. Look at your properties and perform the necessary maintenance prior to the inspection. Now’s the time to repaint that fence, spruce up that porch, you name it! Each one of our properties affects our neighbors so we encourage you to do your part to keep our cluster one of Reston’s finest!

Speaking of Reston Association, according to RA's website we have a new counselor – Robin Greenstreet, (703) 435-6521, rgreenstreet@reston.org. Please remember for almost all changes to the outsides of your property, you should submit the Reston Association Application for approval. Some things are approved at Staff level, others must go before the Design Review Board. All applications need the signature of a board officer and two neighbors. When you bring your application to a board officer to sign, please provide an extra copy for our records. We will not be signing your application without receiving a copy.

We have a Fairgreen Cluster website! The address is:

https://fairgreencluster.wixsite.com/website. You can sign up to receive information as it is posted. We want to thank Jenni Jacyna for her efforts in setting this up. The old blog's “follow” options stopped working once it was taken over by Google, so we broadened our horizons with this site. Bookmark it and sign up for information. We will post items such as newsletters, meeting dates, and trash updates.

Please remember that pets are not allowed on the tot lot. Please keep all pets away from that area as children play up there and we do not want them stepping in pet waste.

Reminder about trash: Trash is only to be placed out after dark the night before pickup. With the days getting shorter, you may place it out earlier. Regular trash and recyclables are picked up on Mondays, regular trash on Thursdays. Yard waste (in biodegradable bags) is supposed to be picked up on Wednesdays through Christmas day (then with regular trash until March 1st) although we have noticed this year that sometimes the trash company is taking it on Thursdays.

Upcoming board meeting: The last board meeting of the year is November 12th at 7:00 p.m. at Jenni Jacyna’s home. At this meeting the board will elect the officers for 2020. The membership elects the board, the board elects its officers.
